OUR PROJECTS
Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Hub (MMRH) has multiple years of project management experience gained from projects implemented in the Akhalgori district before 2008, as well as projects implemented in the Tserovani IDP Settlement. Each project we do focuses on fulfilling our mission of empowering IDP women and youth by providing professional development training and peacebuilding skills in order to promote a sustainable community with active and effective civic participation.
In accordance with the stated goals and objectives, the organization has established cooperation with the following organizations: Open Society Georgia Foundation, TASO Foundation, Women’s Fund in Georgia, UNDP, COBERM, EUMM, US Embassy in Georgia, and local non-governmental and governmental organizations.

The Peace Corps Is A Volunteer Program Run By The United States Government. The Stated Mission Of The Peace Corps Includes Providing Technical Assistance, Helping People Outside The United States To Understand American Culture, And Helping Americans To Understand The Cultures Of Other Countries. There Are More Than 110 Volunteers In Georgia Working With Their Communities On Projects In Community Economic Development And English Education. During Their Service In Georgia, Volunteers Learn To Speak Georgian. More Than 735 Peace Corps Volunteers Have Served In Georgia Since The Program Was Established In 2001.
Our Peace Corps Volunteers
g17 Chelsea, from Buffalo, N.Y, worked as an Individual and Organizational Development Volunteer through the Peace Corps in Tserovani IDP settlement. She has a B.A in Political Science from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a Master of Social Work from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her work with For Better Future (Now MMRH) included working with youth and women to increase financial literacy skills, employability skills, and knowledge of American culture. Projects and trainings included a youth financial literacy workshop, a weekly English Conversation Club, in addition to grant writing and project management. |
g15 Melody, originally from Utah, USA, worked with us through the United States' Peace Corps Program. She studied International Business and Economics at Utah State University. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, she helped build individual and organizational development, as well as support For Better Future (now MMRH) in projects and initiatives. |

The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a programme funded by the European Commission and established under the Erasmus+ program in 1996. The purpose of EVS is to enable young people to become volunteers in the organization or in a public body in Europe,
Africa, Asia or South America for a period of 2 weeks to 12 months. The program covers all the costs of volunteering: transportation, health insurance, food and accommodation for volunteers and provides a chance to gain a professional skills abroad while supporting the development of local communities. Volunteers can work in different areas: cultural activities, education, media and communications, sports, social care or environmental protection.
EVS is based on collaboration among the sending organization, which is responsible for recruitment, preparation and support for volunteers during their participation in the program, the hosting organization, which is responsible for providing accommodation, and the volunteer with their work in the organization.

How to become an EVS volunteer?
To take part in EVS program, you must be legal European (or one of the Partner Countries that you can find here) citizen and be 17- 30 years old. You can find all the available projects in database of volunteering opportunities, choose the project you like and fill the application form added to the project description.You can also contact sending organisations in your country and check the projects they propose. EVS at For Better Future
Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Hub is a hosting organisation cooperating with polish sending organisation Stowarzyszenie Aktywne Kobiety. The goal of Stowarzyszenie Aktywne Kobiety is promoting social inclusion and empowerment of vulnerable groups such as youth, seniors, women and minorities. The main current projects running by Stowarzyszenie Aktywne Kobiety is:
- supporting active citizenship of women in Afghanistan by providing workshops in Afghanistan for young female leaders
- production and promotion of the movie about 3 Afghan sisters, female leaders, titled: "Siostry"
- partnership in EVS program as the receiving and sending organisation
- The Geple Project - Gender Equality Political Leadership Education- collaborative project between organisations from Poland, Czech Republic, Finland, USA and Ireland in order to develop best practices to increase female representation in political life.
VOLUNTEER 2018/2019 Paulina comes from Warsaw, Poland. She has master degree in law and postgraduate diploma in humanitarian assistance obtained at the University of Warsaw. For 6 years she worked for NGO sector in Poland as project manager, financial and administrative manager and fundraising specialist. Her interests focus on peaceful conflict resolution, reintegration of refugees and IDPs, social and civic engagement. As a EVS volunteer in For Better Future, she organises non-formal educational activities for IDP youth including intercultural education and ‘learning how to learn’ knowledge and skills. Paulina also helps with on-going projects of the organisation. |
VOLUNTEER 2018/2019 Łukasz, he was born in Poznan in Poland. He is a graduate of Eastern Studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. His scientific and professional interests include the countries of the former Soviet Union, he has several years of experience in the field of social and market research in Poland. In the course of volunteering in Tserovani, he is working on improving the situation of homeless dogs in Georgia, he conducts activities raising the ecological awareness of children and youth, and also conducts activities to improve the visibility and safety of children and youth on the roads. Kornelia Ryczek VOLUNTEER 2017/2018 Kornelia is a psychologist from Cracow. She is a very sociable and talkative person that needs to be in action all the time. Her passions are music, psychology and traveling. What she appreciates the most in her life are people and nature around her. Kornelia is a big fan of water, learning new things and non-formal education. What brought her to For Better Future (now MMRH) is the simple need of helping others, taking a little breath from her life, new experiences and the beauty of Georgia. |
SlovakAid is a government-funded programme for sending Slovak development and civic experts to countries in transition. According to the Strategy of the Slovak Republic for Development Cooperation 2019-2023, special attention is dedicated to selected Eastern Partnership Countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova).
Martin Pavelka
Martin, from Bratislava, Slovakia, worked as a SlovakAid Development Volunteer in the Tserovani IDP Settlement. He earned a master’s degree in Russian and East-European Studies from Comenius University in Bratislava. Prior to his deployment, he worked with social entrepreneurship and human resources in Austria and Slovakia and was also actively involved with various volunteer activities. His work with Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Hub involved grant writing, project monitoring, informal education in the form of a Leadership Academy Club, environmental initiatives, as well as support for the social enterprise Ikorta. |

Within the framework of the project, the total budget of 5.07 million euros (of which the EU's contribution is 3.8 million euros), more than 110 various activities were implemented and up to 80 grants were issued, totaling 720,000 Euros, for at least 2500 civil society representatives throughout Georgia. The project was implemented by a consortium under the guidance of Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The consortium includes: Civil Society Institute, Strategic Research and Development Center of Georgia, Center for Training and Consultancy, Education Development and Employment Center.
