The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a programme funded by the European Commission and established under the Erasmus+ program in 1996. The purpose of EVS is to enable young people to become volunteers in the organization or in a public body in Europe, Africa, Asia or South America for a period of 2 weeks to 12 months. The program covers all the costs of volunteering: transportation, health insurance, food and accommodation for volunteers and provides a chance to gain a professional skills abroad while supporting the development of local communities. Volunteers can work in different areas: cultural activities, education, media and communications, sports, social care or environmental protection.
